Welcome! You have reached the site of one of the busiest Lions Clubs in
the area! Our club, the Manassas Lioness Lions, has been in existence
only since 2003, but we have really made the community know we are here
to SERVE!
There are presently 35
ladies, from all walks of life and ages, who come together mainly
because they enjoy helping others..…and having a good time while doing
it. We are not only volunteer partners, we’re also friends.
The new year has begun for
us and we are off and running. Our July meeting is a retreat with a
“pot-luck” dinner and planning for the upcoming months’ fundraisers and
service projects. We are really excited about finding new ways to help
our community.
Besides a monthly Board
meeting, where most of the business is done and decisions are made, we
have a monthly dinner meeting where the membership is updated, a new and
interesting speaker gives a short and informative presentation, and
lots of socializing with each other happens.
Presently we have two
major fundraisers which the entire membership is involved with, the
catering for Manassas Lion’s 10K Raffle in March and an annual Fashion
Show & Mini Expo held in April. Other smaller fundraisers such as
White Cane, recycling, and auctions, are done throughout the year and
members may pick and choose which they want to participate in.
Service projects that we
will continue this year are Bingo twice a month at two of our Senior
Assisted Living centers, providing school supplies for students,
Operation Turkey Baskets, Christmas for a Family or a Senior, Holiday
Boxes for our Troops, assistance with eye glasses/exams, visitation of
wounded soldiers at Walter Reed, and Adopt-A-Street where 2-3 times a
year we clean a designated City street to help keep it the beautiful
place it is!
Because I love the ocean
and volunteering, my mantra this year is BEACH:
