History
The Manassas Lioness Club was chartered in 1976, with Lioness Shirley
Rivers installed as the club's first president with a membership
of thirteen ladies. It was sponsored by the Manassas Host Lions
Club.
Then, in 2003,
the Lioness members voted to "bridge" into a Lioness Lions
Club, to be able to have the ability to vote at the conventions
and be a true Lion's Club in every sense of the title.
The Manassas
Lioness Lions Club was chartered on June 14th, 2003. Twenty-one
members were initiated under the leadership of Lioness Lion Sheryl
Bass as the new Club's first president. We have since grown steadily
to approximately 45 members!
We are ladies
of all ages from all walks of life meeting every 3rd Monday night
of each month (except July and August,) to enjoy dinner and hear
speakers give short, in depth presentations. At other designated
times, we're serving the greater Manassas City and Prince William
County, enjoying friendship with each other doing various projects
and fund-raisers. Not only are we volunteer partners in this club,
we have become good friends.
Conferences
and conventions create friendships with other lions clubs and keep
us apprised of their successful endeavors as well as a chance for
us to "let our light shine!"
